Shard moved throughout the old warehouse. It needed a fair amount of work but was cheap enough to buy. It was in a darkened area of UnderSigil village, an area with few eyes. It had been once used to store merchandise for some forgotten merchant house and had been empty for years. The previous owner was happy to rid himself of the derelict building. Now it had a purpose.
Shard had some bunks and old tables set in one area and cots and bed matting thrown in another, larger, room. That particular area he was using to house his new acquisitions. These were mostly goblins and kobolds nabbed from the tunnels above. They had been chained and were being held in this area until such a time as they could be sold. They were regularly subdued and put in their place lest they get brave and end up dead. Although they were only worth a small amount of coin... it was a start. Until the place was properly repaired, fortified and manned... he would have to settle with small vermin easily missed.
He was in the process of setting up a proper slave route... both incoming and outgoing from Sigil. One that would make him, and his tribe, richer and stronger.
The bunk area was ready for others from the tribe who wished to stay in the dark of the village. Much more private here than the city above. A great place to plan and live... a great place to trade ideas and tools.

The skanky undersigil warehouse get vistied by the Warchief and a couple of his elite warriros. He shows his approval by leaving a keg of beer and some smokable substances.
"We gonna have a few party in here yuss."
The Half orc says, not so much a question but more of a statement.
The gray mage was establishing himself well within the clan by aquiring territory for the tribe within Sigil's underbelly and the chief's pleasure in such was evident by his behaviour during the visit.
The title of Warshamanz was up for grabs and Shard was definitly a candidate.

Shard stood over the Orc chained to the wall of the compound. He was kept separate from the other captive vermin. The Orc sat on the ground and barely moved. He only made rudimentary actions such as that to put food in his mouth and swallow. Nothing much else... he had been a slave of the Flayer in the market, stood in the pen until he was purchased by Shard.
Shard had plans for him.
It was going to take some time to rehabilitate the pitiful creature. Its mind would need mending but he would become a valuable asset to Shard. He would ensure the Orc was properly retrained and educated. He would be deathly loyal to his benefactor and he would keep the Slaves in line.
Vorgazar had sent a unit of orcs to help guard the compound as requested. It was being cleaned and repaired. It was starting to look like a suitable building from the inside... outside it still looked nondescript and rundown... as was the intent.
Soon he would start a proper rebuilding of the slave quarters. They would be widened and reorganized. When it came time for more valuable merchandise... he intended to be prepared.
For now he was content... well as content as Shard could be... there was still much to do.

The compound was coming together nicely. It had been reinforced with Nishrek Iron and was now fully under guard. The interior had been cleaned up and furnishings properly placed and in good repair. By human standards it was still fairly barren and cold but for the OrcsÂ… it was suitable. Almost seventy percent of the lower floor was used to house and feed the Orcs stationed in UnderSigil. The remainder of space had been reserved for slaves and prisoners.
The second floor was set aside for the Chieftain, the WarShaman, his lieutenants and his allies. It was much more comfortable than the level below with individual rooms (albeit small ones) and better furnished.
The slaves had been segregated from the rest of the compound in an effort to keep them intact and at minimal damage. Although the majority of them were nothing more than Goblins and Kobolds they still had some value. It was a wasted effort if the Orcs simply abused them at will. A few of the newly arrived Orcs, ones accustomed to life on Nishrek, tried to enforce their will over the compound… over Shard. They figured since he was nothing more than a “Prime” creature, they were superior to him. It didn’t take long for them to realize they were mistaken.
Shard was becoming known in the compound, and to an extent UnderSigil itself, as a cold creature. One with cunning intelligence and short temper. Approached the right way and he could be civil and creative… treated with disrespect and creatures simply vanished. This was his castle… his fortress. Any Orc foolish enough to disrespect him here would be “educated”. Those who did show him respect, however, were rewarded and respected in return. He was cold but he was fair and reacted accordingly.
The compound was become a hive of activity. Outsiders were simply not permitted to enter the main floor. Some were invited to the upper quarters now and then but rarely ever permitted to wander the main floor. That was the heart of the operation and privacy needed to be maintained.
