Several reports are flooding in from the Abyss that the Tanari are dying by the thousands. A mysterious aliment has afflicted them - some kind of magical plague is the latest theory. Many do not even make it into battle, but drop where they stand, turn a strange hue of yellow, and die.

That this is some stratgem of the Baatezu is beyond doubt. Several large armies of Baatezu, obviously waiting and prepared, have stormed into the Abyss. What was once mere skirmishes is now a major offensive on the part of the devils.

A large war party of Baatezu also tried to storm the Abysmal portal. Two Pit Fiends and their minions entered the Harmonium barracks, only to be met by adventurers, Harmonium, and, finally, the Lady herself. Hundreds of magical blades appeared and shredded them, and several dozen eye witnesses claim they say the gigantic face of Her Serenity regarding the Abysmal portal, then vanishing.

In the meantime, the Baatezu press their advantage. It becomes clear that due to their numbers, and the Yellow Demon Fever, as the plague has become known, that for the first time in milennia the Baatezu might actually seize a layer of the Abyss. Many tacticians and the learned in the City claim this will be the beginning of the end for the Tanari, if the devils are not stopped. A Baatezu stronghold and ownership of the 1st Abysmal layer could give them an unassailable forward deployed base for which to assault the remaining layers.

It might take another milennia, but for the first time ever, it looks like the "endless" Blood War might actually be won. Unless they are stopped; and several of the Learned, even Celestials, question the wisdom of allowing the Baatezu to prevail.

A party of adventurers commisioned by the Harmonium successfully negotiated with an expedition of Modrons on the Ethereal Plane, and finally, after several long hours in which Sigil suffered, synthesized a cure for the Yellow Demon Fever. The blood of Subject Zero, a young tiefling female who unwittingly brought the plague to Sigil, was mixed with special elements from the Plane of Acheron and Brux.

As the cure begins to swiftly eliminate the plague virus in Sigil, however, the Baatezu Campaign continues on the first layer of the Abyss. Another party releases the cure into the layer, but it will still take nearly a day for it to be effective. In the meantime, the Baatezu make great strides forward in punishing the Tanari and securing strategic areas on the plane itself. One thing is certain: the Baatezu will end up with a much stronger position on the plane, and the Blood War gets even bloodier.

Amycus Thorne, along with Chari, Mir, Mael, Ovarf, Siril, Archimedes, Hildmor, Gwyn and Cam, was proud to be a part of finding the cure to such a ravaging disease that spread so quickly throughout the Cage.

The antidote was a curious mixture of Orc bile, water lily seeds, and the blood of the first infected non-Tanari infected by the disease. Oddly enough, the party discovered that the disease was actually a weapon used by the robotic beings of Mechanus to defend against invading demons. The disease mutated and tore through Sigil, affecting anyone with a chaotic bent to their nature.

Though some suffered and others died, the party was fortunate enough to find a cure in a relatively short amount of time and save the lives of many.

((And I just want to give a shout out to the DMs who put on this event. Loved it! Thank you!))

Embra's final spell crushed into the Pit Fiend Warlord, splitting his sternum in half.

She blinked through some tears as she spat on the corpse. The old fortress... corpses everywhere...

No sign of them.

"You'd better ain't be dead, you old fool..." she muttered.
