Heyas all,
New player here on this server. Had a few questions regarding some of the play and also (maybe) technical stuff.
Couple quick things. I gotta say (for NWN2 being all player generated content) that so far Sigil is rockin'. Seems to be lower population (although, for free servers, what exactly quantifies a high pop vs. low pop server, I have no idea), so at lower levels I've been soloing alot.
Additionally, I have had a ton of the planescape books for years (2nd edition) and have always LOVED the environment. Sigil - The city with never ending things to do.
Couple questions I had though for this server.
1.) Quests: Either I'm not looking around hard enough, or it seems that there isn't alot of quests? The only one I've been able to complete so far is the cranium rats in the Inn cellar and finding the eyes for the statue in Under Sigil. What am I missing here? Is there a master list/post that shows what is all open?
2.) Starting areas. Where to level? What type of grind am I looking at? Should I group as much as possible for grinding? Are there additional level depending quests to assist?
3.) Keys to the planes. So far, I've managed to locate Beastlands, Gray Waste, Outlands and Carceri. What/Where are the keys to the rest?
4.) Right now, I'm only a F6/R1 (going for Dwarven Defender as soon as I can crossspec). Where are good zones to grind in (if I need too).
5.) The toolset. Where to learn? I would love to put in some input for additional zones, quests, etc. etc. Pandemonium? Gehenna? Limbo? Mechanus? Just so many zones that could be dropped in here too.
Nice thing about Sigil is that there is never a stop to do anything.
I probably have a ton more, just all the main ones I can think of right now.
Another thing too: I know this is a player created/maintained server, so I don't expect the programming development like Blizzard would have on thier content teams. However, considering the limited amount of resources, this is a VERY well done server.
Anyway, just some observations from my end as a new player. Again, I'm prolly missing some things from my end, so just wanted some input.
New to PW's and this server

Hello Dagnar and welcome to SCoD,
I'm neither a Dev nor a DM on this PW but given the fact there's no reply to your questions by now, I'm going to try to answer the ones I'm able to. :)
Simply talk to all the NPCs your character comes across and also to other player characters, I'm pretty sure you'll find the quests then. :)
Also, be aware that once your rp pool is empty you'll only gain half xp from kills, thus it's always recommendable to roleplay as well as to go and kill stuff. ;)
But to be honest, go and find out IC really.
Again, talking to people (NPCs and characters) helps alot.
Fun aside, most people hunt the Beastlands, Undersigil and the Ice Plane 'til level 10 or so, Beastlands even longer since it yields primo xp really.
As for your question ... the best zones to 'grind' in are well, the Beastlands and the Ice Plane, and for a level 7 I'd stick to Undersigil, the Wastes and the first area of Brux.
Additionaly, perhaps some of your questions have allready been answered here.

I can name eight quests avaiable in the Sigil Main area alone, though one is only for evil aligned characters. Some of the quests are also supposed to work differently for members of various faction, alignements and so on.wrote: 1.) Undersigil and the Gray Wastes are the primary low-level dungeoneering areas afaik. Teaming up is recommended, the xp gain will increase that way. Since there are many 'action players' on the server (in addition to the many hardcore rp'ers) finding buddies to grind with should not be difficult.wrote: 2.) Starting areas. Where to level? I FINALLY GOT IG...neat
As I played something struck me funny. For the first time it makes sense for a PW to have tons of doors that you can not open, or try to pick.
Figure going to run two characters. Nenir Coldfire, and Durin Ironfist.
Liking the visual effects, and seems real interesting. Plus its nice to Rp.
Still figuring it all out, and getting the feel of character traits.
What advice do folks have? oh and I want to punch that hag for sending my character under sigil....

I'll give some tips for immediate start, but after that you can explore on your own or RP with people to tell you more... some people are willing to sell those informations in game in character after all ;)
- In beginning stay close the Smoking Hammer Inn, most starting based quests/things are in there.
Few easy areas to search through:
- Smoking Hammer Inn (+ cellar)
- Under Sigil upper levels (the deeper you go the more difficult it gets)
- Gray Waste (better bring slashing weapons with thee!)
- There is power in the groups, but remember group play can be more efficient than four bashers jumping around on their own and trying to be the hero of the day.
Jink is sparce!
- Purchase and sell to other cutters to get most outta it!
- Offer IC services for jink, for the cutters are sometimes willing to pay for wildest things.
---
Regarding the 5th question) Basic building guide http://www.nwn2toolset.dayjo.org/Toolse ... arted.html

If you got two-handed weapon and power attack feats, Ethreal Demi-Plane would be quite pleasant place. Or Wererats in Under Sigil.

two handed weapons? bah my characters ARE weapons :P.
Why is pasha red? what she do wrong?
yeah its been awhile. was playing nwn1 will do so on occasion my better half enjoys my crazy character.
going to try to get her interest in it, then buy her the expansions.
Also for the crafting does practiced caster or cross classing say wizard/arcane trickster count level wise? I think so but my brain is full of mush...

Pasha is evil and dangerous so we made her red to warn everyone. <.< Nah, originally it was since during our building phase we had building forums hidden from public, but wanted some people to give us second opinions for some matters (from "noob" point of view) so we ended up to make her a "Test Noob" of SCoD.
Practised spellcaster should count for the enchanting/crafting requirements of caster level.

Pasha is a "Test Noob" apparently, so RED means DANGER not cos I'm necessarily EBIL but cos I might mess things up... B) (I wanted pink, but the DMs took the pink colour :P)
