We have "Empty parchments" that you can write on ingame and give away or keep.

After activating one you must give them a title (max. 20 characters) that will rename the item to "Parchment: (title)" and then you can put some text on it (max. 200 characters). Once you're finished you can "read" back what you wrote either silently (text is sent as a private message to the reader) or aloud (the reading character says aloud what is written on the parchment).

These items cost about 14 gold for one empty parchment and are sold currently by the Hag merchant Layla in the great bazaar (in the last shop tab that has all the crafting ingredients). Once written on, the parchment becomes worthless and can not be sold back to merchants.

There are 2 more appearance changers (like the one in the OOC room) in the back of the Civic Festhall area, they look like mirrors.

Your "essence" item has some special functions

Using your essence item (which everyone has since it stores some vital information about your character for the server) can be activated. You will then get some options in a conversation that pops up.

One of these options is the "negative effects widget". With that, you can add some negative effects to yourself for RP purposes, for example Blindness, Deafness or a negative modifier to any of your stats. You could for example use the Blindness options to RP being blindfolded or actually blinded better.

To remove these effects simply rest.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to add to this, but I've noticed some people tossing away books in trash cans. Books have a use, even if your character is a total philistine! Head on over to the hall of records and you can sell them there. You're rewarded with both jink and XP.
