I've noticed the monodrone walking the streets (an odd sight to see being they only speak their own language, and only take orders from duodrones and would probably be a rare sight, if at all, in Sigil or anywhere off Mechanus for that matter...save for the Great Modron March) and wondered if there was, yet, a quadrone model?

I don't believe so. There's only a couple of monodrone models that I can find.

Any modrons outside of mechanus would be considered rogue, and yes it's a very rare sight since they don't usually go rogue until higher up the ladder... and even then it's not too common.

yeah I added monodrones only because its the only modron available yet... but rogue dao assured me they are close to getting quadrone done... then we can swap them :)

I kind of like how the monodrones look like...

Would it be possible to have one of them as a player character's race?

Rogue modrons (and the PC version) are always quadrones. I think anything lesser (monodrones, duodrones & tridrones) are all too unintelligent. I believe everything above that goes rogue turns into a quadrone.

Been wondering about the two available modron types: monodrones and duodrones. I'm assuming these were the only available models created for NWN2 (if they'd made the quadrone first then that would've been more helpful). RPing monodrones are really pointless in Sigil as I'm sure they're not very likely to leave Mechanus for any reason short of the Great Modron March or something. And even if they do, monodrones are so unintelligent they pretty much can only exist on one single-minded operation at a time as they're pretty much unable to chew bubble gum and walk at the same time (because that's two operations :P ). Duodrones are better in this category, but hardly a bit more complex. Tridrones obviously aren't on the menu here (or anything else for that matter). Mono and duodrones can't really go rogue as if I remember correctly only quadrones can/have enough intelligence to be self-sufficient and self-aware. And I think - again if I correctly remember - don't all rogue modrons change to quadrones??

I'm jut wondering the point of having the mono and duodrones. I really don't think there's a way to properly RP them here unless we're going to unofficially substitute them for the lack of a quadrone model and say these guys can go rogue. I don't even think monodrones are capable of speech. Not sure if speech ability begins with quadrones... It's been a number of years since I read up on the modron hierarchy.

I love the modron race and they're probably my favorite planar native race. I really wish they had the quadrone models available. But was just wondering on the ideas/thoughts behind the two available ones. Thanks.

Check out the dragon magazines. There is stuff about rogue modrons and how sometimes a few modrons become conscious.

*POOF* What?

Oh.

So, basically - what Alersia said. Playing any type of actual modron as a PC would be very mind-numbing. Monodrones would totally ignore all types of communication not coming directly from a duodrone, for example, as monodrones can only do one single thing at a time.

If they're ordered to move rocks, they can't also move rocks and engage in conversation - unless a duodrone specifies that the monodrone's orders have changed. Duodrones wouldn't be much better.

Since a model doesn't exist for rogue modrons (rogue modrons don't look like quadrones, Nordom was just a quadrone before he went rogue) we can instead play rogue modrons of those two types.
