Regarding the "pretend HIPS" I would have to say that it doesn't actually matter whether people decide to play along or not. On a related matter, there is a lot of "alcohol" to be found and consumed in SCoD. If you do decide to make your character consume alcohol, or build your whole character around the idea of consuming alcohol, do welcome bit of common sense regarding the effects alcohol has on your body.
Thus: When Drunk, add -30 to all rolls you can roll.
