Whoopie for semantics. =P

Regarding the "pretend HIPS" I would have to say that it doesn't actually matter whether people decide to play along or not. As far as I can tell, it's been used as a cue exit, and dice roll protests are not going to do much against it.

On a related matter, there is a lot of "alcohol" to be found and consumed in SCoD. If you do decide to make your character consume alcohol, or build your whole character around the idea of consuming alcohol, do welcome bit of common sense regarding the effects alcohol has on your body.

Thus: When Drunk, add -30 to all rolls you can roll.

Sorry, I'm not sure if I understand what you are trying to say here.

As for the being drunk thing, consuming alcohol already reduces your INT by 2 or so. That's not "realistic" in the sense of you actually dieing from alcohol poisoning as you would in real life, but that is how the game implements it. You are free to RP yourself being even worse affected of course, and if you really want to go for extra realism, you can use the Essence item's negative effects option to reduce all of your stats to low levels.

Also, there's no need for the aggressive tone. Please let's keep things friendly.

^Alright, a clarification is in order:

When I think it feels plausible, my character will ditch the scene.

Yes,
- I could just log off,
- I could just walk away,
- However, since my character "is" a Shadowdancer - I do it in a bit more dandy manner. ///// Check the previous example.

And regardless of what I do, if someone decides to complain about my decision - I can and I will cover my ears and yell: "La la la la la la la..." - until they realise it is a moot effort.

//// Agressive tone? :huh:

If all that happened was some friendly chat and then your SD shadowdances away, why would anyone complain? I was simply saying that if your character does not have the ability to HIPS, you should not RP as if you had it.

I fail to see the problem here (besides the thread being hijacked) really. Since your character has the HIPS feat, then you can very well emote him/her to vanish out of sight. It's a game mechanic at work for you. If your character had no HIPS feat then it would be cheesing, plain and simple.

In case of hiding / spotting... I'd say let game engine decide whether you are seen or not seen... if they see you, then I suggest you invest more on hide/move silently.

That's why game engine handles the rolls automatically for those... though I personally don't mind manual rolling system either, but the game engine does roll all those so it shouldn't matter too much which way... manual rolling is better for "slowed down situations" where you want to deal things one round at a time with everyone having reaction speed for RP.

Hey all,

I recently (I.E. this morning) stumbled upon this persistant world and forums, and as a fan of all things Planescape from the days of old (also known as the mid-nineties) I started to read away at once, leaving me but with a few questions ...

Races: Are 'non-standard' races actualy selectable (scripted) so one can pick from a larger selection of avaiable ones at character creation ? If yes, which ones are there ? Saw someone's post (s)he was playing a seaelf or goblin for example.
If no, are we allowed to 'cheese' the various planar races ? I.E. make an aasimar pretending it to be a celestial or roll a tiefling for a succubus. Or are special races aquired ingame via appearance alteration ? Do they need DM approval ?

Deities: Are there more deities (Oerth, Dragonlance, monstrous ones ... ) scripted in, or are we restricted to the default NWN2 Forgotten Realms deities ? If yes, do these deities work properly with the Favored Soul class (fav. weapon etc.) ?

Thanks for any answers and helpful hints in advance, eventualy I just overread something maybe ..

Hi.

I'm the sea elf and goblin :P

Non-standard races are not available at character creation at the moment. With a bit of creativity, however, you can mimic some races... like a goblin (ugly halfling, with yellowish green skin, possible future bic change to give it the goblin appearance, although he's mildly disguised now and couldn't do that with the goblin model) or a sea elf(Wild Elf with blueish green skin). It took a bit of creativity, but they're both ECL 0 races that are easily faked. I did ask prior to making the goblin, just to be sure it would be cool... and it was. We're not against creativity, but there are boundaries.

Tiefling as a full blooded succubus, that one is most likely a no, just because of the extreme difference between the two. Though on a personal note I'll suggest against making a tiefling female anyway, especially one with red hair that's smug, smarmy, and sexy, and has a tail... we've had an influx of those lately... can't stop you from doing that, of course, but just letting you know of that type of characters' current popularity.

Of course, if you're not sure if you're allowed to do it, feel free to pop in the chat and ask the DM and admin crew if it's cool to try whatever you're trying to do. Or just pop in and join in the randomness/fun/entertaining me at work.

As for dieties, there's plenty of dieties available, but I think it was mentioned that we don't have any Dragonlance once at the moment. As far as I know they work with favored soul, but I haven't tried it myself. If anyone has, feel free to confirm / correct me on this.

Heh, thanks for the info Ranequin, it's most appreciated.

So, essentialy, it comes down to faking the more 'mundane' subraces with the ones NWN 2 provides, with DM consent to go ? Sounds fair and square to me.

As for the female tieflings ... yeah, that happens just about any place where nude skins are avaiable. Must be some wierd virus. Just pray it doesn't turn into a tiefling dickgirl invasion.
