((OOC: just curious, I thought equipment could only have up to three effects added to 'em. This one has four: the +2 enhancement, the daze effect, the purple light, and the fact that darksteel is supposed to count against the number of effects...))

(( well, there -are- epic weapons around, having up to 5-6 properties on them, I am glad for that, since epic weapons should be just that, EPIC, same with some other relics that drop, having "enchanting" yield the same results, makes epic drops absolete. furthermore, I understood that 3 is simply the max you can add engine wise with enchanting? anyway, I suggest that further discussion should be moved to the other forum section :)

((Material does not directly count as enchantment by the way, but most materials add one or two enchantments upon crafting [extra damage/less weight/mighty etc.] and those are count to maximum enchanting limit [as example on case of Darksteel to weapons it adds +1 electrical damage, on case of armors and shields it adds 5 acid Damage Resistance].

Equipment can have as many properties as we want, be it 3000 or 1, the "enchanting system" limits players to be able to add only up to 3 enchantments (with items existing enchantments taken on count on that) to prevent players adding every enchantment to each of their items and that way making too powerful equipment to begin with.

Mirror Blade is not enchanted or made by players, it comes as such in the drop tables.))

*edit* And splitted this from the IC topic, moved the OOC discussion to General Discussion forum.

I read many times that certain material, Darksteel being one of them, counts as one of the three enchantments. Was just something the engine calculated.

So as mentioned, material isn't really important, materials just automatically adds properties usually, sometimes multiple.

the darksteel part only counts to enchantments if the weapon has the elec damage and the armours have acid resistance.

Well...how can you avoid that if you're crafting those items? Besides, if they don't have those properties then there's no use for it being made from dark steel anyway.
