I've come onto Sigil every couple years or so for a good 6 or so years, and it's never really seemed overly social to me. People do what people do on every RP server, but it's easier to find an adventuring group than a drama theater around here.
I also don't really know what to compare it against as I've only ever really been on Sigil since it's the one a friend recommended for me a long time ago...
But as it stands, if you don't like seeing so many female characters to male characters... Make male characters? I don't even get what the point of this entire thread is. It's titled "So many women," but the content seems to be about people having weird roleplay sexual relationships. Playing here, most people who approach any of my characters for that stuff are male. I saw three male characters sitting in the bazaar talking about sex earlier...
I'm just saying, is this about too many female characters or about this server becoming sexualized? The point seems rather confused from the start.
So Many Women.

Y'know, Perin, I hear it helps to not play a rapey character while trying to interact with females... Jussayin'.

I have been on Sigil long enough to remember Ceremorphs first DMed event where she gave out neat items from this infernalist corrupter and in all that time I have found Sigil to be a little more sexy than not.
If you have something against characters showing skin or talking about their erotic escapades in public, answer it IC. Play someone from a prudish and repressed culture, like maybe the pantheist Zakharran or something like that and you can get upset every time some 'slut' shows more than her ankle like a common trollop.
This happens in real life with travel all the time. Its nothing at all to see two dudes holding hands or snogging here in Portland but you will occasionally see someone from a more conservative state staring at these openly queer folk like it was the end of the world while native Portlanders just drift on by with their lattes and not a care given.
Sigil should be like that, go ahead and make a character thats as worried about our IC morality as you are OOC and you might even end up enjoying this thing you are complaining about?

You mean the evil warlock? The one who also talks openly about all the people he's killed? Including how he discussed killing the Harmonium Barracks in front of a Harmonium Guard?DeadofPool,Jan 17 2017 wrote: Y'know, Perin, I hear it helps to not play a rapey character while trying to interact with females... Yeah. My character is a lot of things. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy being hated in character. That isn't the issue here. The other difference, is I don't ERP a whole lot. IN all the time I've roleplayed on this server, my character had a total of one relationship. Which was a Nymph, whose soul he owned, and I used her, as a way of getting to other characters. Same way I did with all the other people that belonged to my character.
Or all the people that used to be in the cult that I had. Never had my character remotely attached to any of them through any sort of ERP. Not fad to black, nothing. My character has little interest in sex. He just lets people think he does. Just like I was accused of being a power gaming PvPer, because I've killed a lot of people characters. To this day, I've never started a PvP engagement.
See, the one time my character did anything remotely sexual, it enhanced the RP. Because I don't let ERP get in the way of RP. I happened to rather enjoy that RP. Not sure if the person I was torturing by taking advantage of their lover did, but they've never struck me as hostile.
Male characters being treated poorly isn't the issue. Though you did just insult about half the people in this thread, that talked about why they played female characters instead of male characters. Bravo.
See, the issue I have, is when people aren't even remotely trying to play their character properly, because the only thing they happen to currently be playing, concerns what will get them to the next ERP, and how fast they can do it.
You know where I don't see this kind of behavior? Places people aren't allowed to ERP at all. It's amazing how much I don't see any of that RP, and it suddenly doesn't feel like a social server.
Funny thing is, since I made this post, more than one person has contacted me in game, and expressed the fact that they feel people from Haven are coming over. I won't say any names, because that is their business if they want to come out and say it. But from what I hear, Haven is full of these kinds of people. They probably got tired of the terrible social server RP.

So there are two premises you'd like us to buy into:
1) There's a recent, big problem with too many people playing females
2)
I'm really not convinced of either.

In other words if ERP were to be banned, this type of behavior would disappear from this server.wrote: "You know where I don't see this kind of behavior? Places people aren't allowed to ERP at all."
