Well, if you believe in evolution, then something vaguely chicken-like gave birth to a mutant egg, which hatched and thus forming what we now know as a chicken.

So, if a mutant egg is still an egg, then the egg came first. If not, then ~bam~ we suddenly had chickens!

Clearly if you count the mutant egg wouldn't one count the vaguely chicken-like thing?
