Wings?

I do believe not all half-fiends needs to have wings... in 3.0 the template had "50% chance of wings", so I think they simplified it since players would roll up a half-fiend and whine when the DM rolled 47 on the wing roll :P

In any case, players can play rp-only races, but with caution... like MrO mentioned, alot of races are easily done by appearance and rp only and are common in d&d... It's mainly the races that are strange (like winged drow) that require disapproval... err... approval...

If someone wanted to play a winged drow, they'd better be ready to write up a novels worth of grade-A fiction as to how and why, and make me cry from the emotional impact of it all... because anything less than that I'll laugh and point at such a silly request :P

Non the less, I'd prefer if people would need to get approval for the things they're playing, special race with special powers or not.

It breeds confusion and discontent if some are simply cheesing races whilst others are waiting for the 'true' subraces.
Also, where to draw the line ? No one has made up a clear one yet, nor will anybody be able to, since the concept of 'rp-only-races' is highly subjective.

Some will argue using a blue-hued moon elf for a sea elf is perfectly acceptable since their special powers wouldn't really be needed in an NWN2 environment, some would disagree, and both sides are technicaly right.

Also .... aasimar are not half-celestials. Might as well cheese a tiefling to be an erinyes or succubus then.

*Rolls a Drow Bard, Chaotic Good one that dual-wields scimitars.*

*Levels it up, and finally gains the last and final level of RDD.*

I want me wings! :<

When it comes to special races, I want to make an ugly Hagspawn Barbarian and steal all the ladies from Kelth. :<

RDD actually get wings at level 9, but it really boils my buttons that Obsidian left them out. Sure, they were completely cosmetic in NWN1, but they were cool as spit.

Obviously so. If they were, they'd have fun things like innate DR, +1 natural armor, daylight at will, smite evil, two nice spell-like abilities, spell resistance, and massive boosts to attributes, as well as a nasty +4 ECL. However, the equivalent "evil" variant would be playing as half-fiend or cambion. Having an Erinyes character would be more like playing an aasimar as a true Deva or Archon (although sad to say it, if we had a cute puppy face to use I'd be seriously ramping up to play a Hound Archon!)...

Thing is, if there is one thing I hate, its alot of administrative work... or even just a bit of administrative work... so if players were adult enough to play say a Derro on their own, without bothering me, I'm very happy... if said player instead decides he's half drow and half god, I will be annoyed...

We're still beta, and we have no system for special races yet... give us time...
